Just Thought I'd Share Some Smiles

This is my new favorite picture of my three little squirts. This is what I woke up to this morning and the smiles were contagious. How can you not be happy after waking up to three cute smiles like these!

I also wanted to show off Bryce in his "monkey suit" as Kira calls it. I think it is the cutest outfit and Bryce was actually grunting like a little monkey. He is so much fun.

The "2:00 AM" Poem

It's 2:00 am and here I am,
Blogging to stay awake.
My little boy is up again,
Go to sleep for goodness sake!

It's time to dream of sugarplums
And tomorrows adventurous things.
But here I sit in the kitchen,
wondering what the next few hours will bring.

All I want is my cozy bed,
With my covers, oh so warm.
While Brycie kicks in his bouncie seat,
Having so much fun.

I really hope this night

will be over very soon.
But as of now, I look outside
and still can see the moon.

Please go to sleep my little one,
Mom's sanity's at risk.
I'll hold you close, then tuck you in
and give you one last kiss.

Please, oh, please just go to sleep
There's not much more to say.
Except "I love you" lots and lots,
And I hope I make it through Memorial day!

(Yeah! It's a yawn!)

Not - So - Priceless Works of Art

Okay, I need to vent. Has anyone out there ever had a poo-poo painter? Well, I just discovered today that my 2 year old has quite the talent for it. I had just put her down for a nap when about 15 minutes later she came out to tell me that she was poopy. What she should have said was that her entire room and self was covered in a crap load of poop! There was poop everywhere (I'll spare you the photo!). All over her sheets, walls, books, on the bunk bed above hers, nicely ground into the saftey bar/net thing that keeps her from falling off the bed, and all over herself as well. At least the diaper was still on her bum, which begs the question, what would possess her to reach into her diaper just to paint with poop. I have a perfectly fine set of watercolors she could have used if she'd wanted to be creative. Oh well. Now it's cleaned up, Kate's in the tub, and the sheets are in the washer. I'm sure one day I'll look back on this and laugh at the fond memories - but today is not that day!

The Simple Joys of Mommyhood - Part 2

About a week ago I did a blog on the simple joys of motherhood and for some reason it ended up in the middle of all my posts, so I don't know if anyone saw it, and for that reason I will explain again. Being a mom is lots of hard work but it is also a lot of fun and I thought that I would try to document, and occasionally share, as many of the cute little things that my kids do that make me smile and laugh, so that if I am having a bad "being a mom" day (like today), I can look back and remember that my kids are something to cherish and that I really do love being a mom.

I saw this about a week ago after "quiet time" with Kate. Kira was at school, Bryce was asleep, and I was TIRED, so I layed down by Kate to watch a movie and I fell asleep. When I woke up I went into the kitchen and saw a butter wrapper on the floor. I thought, "this is odd." When I opened the fridge this is what I found! My little butter lover had found out how to open the fridge and get into the butter. It made me laugh.
These next things happened today. I was putting Kate down for a nap and came down into the kitchen to find this...

...13 strawberry tops lined up in a row. Hmm, Now who could have done that?! Of course it was my sweet Kira.
Here are just a couple of pics of Kira and Brycie playing outside. They just warmed my heart.
(Bryce doesn't look to sure about this)
After nap/quiet time, we came into the house and found Kate lounging in her camp chair by the window with her sippy. (If I close my eyes and try really hard I can picture myself in Hawaii, on the beach, sipping a Pina Colada:)) This just made my day. I love the funny, out of the blue things my kids do that spice up each day. I just love them to pieces!

The Jazz and Chocolate Ice Cream...

What could be better?! Dave loves the Jazz games and so he bought us YUMMY chocolate icecream from Coldstone and then we all watched the game together. What a fun treat!
Here is Kate showing off her chocolate covered everything - mouth, arm, dress, feet, you name it - it was covered in chocolate:)

Chocolate moustache cheese!
Here is Kira's chocolate moustache,
And showing off that she finished the whole bowl all by herself.
After the icecream we watched the game with daddy. This was so cute of Dave and Bryce watching the game together - father and son. Do you think he's just loving haveing a little guy to share this stuff with? I just ate it up. So cute.

The Migration of the baby Killdear

We have had such a fun expirience with the baby killdear birdies that I wanted to share it. The animal kingdom is so amazing and I love that we've been able to see just a little part of it at work. It is a real testimony to me of our Heavenly Father's influence in this world. These little birds are amazing. First of all, the same morning they were born they were just little miniatures of their parents: walking around, eating, flapping their wings. It takes human babies months and months to figure those things out. (Well okay, humans never learn how to flap their wings -ha ha! I meant to learn human things like walking, talking, etc:)) Secondly, the way that the parents interact with these little babies is incredible. They hatched on the morning of the 6th and by that night they had moved from my (ccl) neighbors yard, which is 2 houses away, to our yard by our back fence. The mom and dad would stay by the babies and then they would fly over the fence to the other side and chirp and chirp and chirp to help the babies find their way to the other side and then they would fly back to check the baby birds progress. They repeated this for hours until all four baby birds had made it. At first we weren't sure where they were headed and we just watched these little ones try to find their way into our backyard. Here are two of them by the back fence.
Here is one little bird that got a little bit lost in our grass out front.
Here is another bird that was drinking water from our leaking hose while he waited for his mommy to come and show him the way again.
Here is a close up of one that finally made it through the fence. When they finally made it through I had to go and see it for myself. This little one saw me and started to play dead. That is another amazing thing. The entire time the mamma bird sits on her eggs, if anyone gets too close then the mom will sqwak (is that how you spell that?) her head off and the dad will fly away from the eggs and pretend he has a hurt wing so that you will head over to him instead of the eggs. This is all for protection of the little ones and it is amazing to me that this little bird, one day old, had the same instinct of survival. Awesome! I really thought he was dead, but once I left he ran off to join his family. They were in our backyard for about 2 days doing the same routine as before and trying to get all of the babies over our other fence into the horse field behind our house. The mom would be with the babies and the dad would be on the other side of the fence squawking and then the mom would say "okay little babies, listen to me and daddy squawk and then you can find your way to us." So she would fly over the fence and then all this tweeting would start and then when they couldn't find their way over she would come back and gather them together again and they would start all over. It was so fun to watch. Finally Dave removed some of our fence posts so that they could find their way over. It was an amazing adventure for them and I'm so glad we got to see it all. I even video taped it but I can't figure out how to get my video on this blog site. If anyone knows how will you please tell me. I would appreciate it. Well, that's all on the birds. Sorry if that was boring, but it was a lot of fun to be a part of.

Bryce's Blessing Day

We blessed Bryce on Sunday May 4, 2008 and it was such a fun and beautiful day. The sun was shining and the meeting was spiritual and the food was delicious and the company was the best! We loved seeing all of our friends and family and had fun talking and spending time with each of you. In fact, I talked and mingled so much that I forgot to take any pictures of anyone, so by the time I remembered, most everyone had left, and I decided to just do a photo shoot of Bryce on his big day. Here are some of the pictures.

Here is Bryce as he slept through the blessing and the party afterward. I think he looks so peaceful.
When he finally woke up everyone was gone so we just took pictures of him with me and Dave.
While Dave took the girls on a walk, I took a hundred more pictures of Brycee to commermorate his special day. Lucky for you I am only sharing a few! I took them outside because it was such a nice day. Here he is looking serious.

Can you guess what he is thinking? Is it, "Hooray, I got blessed today!" or "Yea! The Jazz are in the playoffs!" Probably the first since the Jazz lost :-(

"See how happy I am, I am even smiling. It was great!"

I wanted to show off his cute outfit...

and his cute little stocking feet.
It's only been about an hour and here he is falling asleep again.
And he's out. It's gonna be a long night:-)
I also had to show off the cute onesie that my friend Jodi made for him to wear for his blessing. It says "I am a child of God. Bryce David Mecham. 02-17-08" Isn't that so cute!

Here is a little extra info for those of you who saw the Killdear eggs in my neighbors yard. They hatched this morning (5/6/08) and they are so cute and tiny. I can hear them all right now just squawking away. There is the mom, dad, and 4 babies.

If you look close you can see one baby on the sidewalk and then the mom and another baby are just to the right of it. The other baby is under the mom's head.
Here is another little baby walking around in the gutter. They are so cute, and really loud!

For those of you who wanted recipes, I am still collecting them, so I will post those another day. Thanks to everyone who came and supported us. We really appreciate and love you all.
